Basketball Pictures and End of the Year Party

Basketball team and individual pictures will be taken Friday, 2/19. Jerseys will be handed in after pictures.

Girls end of the season parents night will be Tuesday, 2/23 from 6:00-7:45 P.M. We will have a brief awards ceremony followed by a game against the parents.

Boys end of the season parents night will be Tuesday, 3/16 from 6:00-7:45 P.M.

2 Wins for Boys Hoopsters

The boys 5th-6th grade basketball team finished their season with two high energy wins. The boys won a home game in convincing fashion Friday night against SCCS. They also picked up one win on Sunday in the Becker Tournament against Virginia.

Spelling Bee

The 2nd Annual STRIDE Spelling Bee took place on February 12th. Twenty students in grades 5-6 participated. These students qualified by placing in the top 5 in their respective classroom spell down challenges. All of the students did a fantastic job!

The champion was Meghan Moran. Gabe Mohs finished in second place.

A special thank you to Jason Ulbrich, Tim Heerts, Dale Beutel and Rodger Vix for making this event possible.

Congrats To The Girls Basketball Team

The girls basketball team capped off their season with an impressive win over the St. Cloud Christian School Crusaders. STRIDE displayed an aggressive defense that frustrated SCCS from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

The girls demonstrated tremendous improvement this year and it has been a pleasure watching them enhance their skills under the leadership of coach Bruce Flees.

Congratulations on a great year.

Where: Becker Field house
1200 Hancock Street
Becker, MN

The carpool will be leaving STRIDE at 7 AM. Please let your coach know if you will be meeting at the school to get a ride, or if you will be meeting the team in Becker. The field house is the large gray building with a bulldog on it and is located on the Becker Schools Campus 3 blocks east of US Hwy 10.

Please remember your jersey, black shorts, something to drink and some money for concessions. We will be in Becker until late in the afternoon. Please plan accordingly.

This tournament is a fundraising event for the Becker Basketball Program. Daily admission will be $5.00/adult and $3.00/student.

2nd Annual STRIDE Spelling Bee

This past weekend the girls basketball team took home medals for finishing in sixth place at the Becker Basketball Tournament. They lost a heart breaker 38-28 in their first game against Melrose. Then came back strong to beat Big Lake 12-10 in overtime. Great job!

2 Wins for STRIDE Hoopsters

Monday brought two victories for the STRIDE Academy 5th-6th grade basketball teams. The girls started things off on a high note with a victory over Kennedy at STRIDE Memorial Gymnasium. The boys team carried on the winning ways on the road as they beat Becker 34-32. Great job!

Busy Weeked for STRIDE Hoopsters

This weekend brought the first tournament action for the STRIDE 5th-6th grade boys and girls basketball teams. The boys put in a great effort, but came up a little short in all three of their games. They lost against Big Lake in overtime when an opposing player banked a three-pointer at the buzzer. This game had many lead changes and was very exciting. The boys rallied from a 13 point deficit in their final game against Becker. They made an impressive comeback by using a full court press that frustrated the Bulldogs, but ended up down 3 as time expired.

The girls team made their season debut on Sunday against Elk River and Big Lake. The girls worked very hard and did a great job of demonstrating their STRIDE PRIDE. The first game against Elk River was a great learning expeirience. Nnediri U. led all STRIDE scorers with 8 points. The second game against Big Lake was a thriller. There were many lead changes and STRIDE held the lead for most of the first half. When the smoke cleared the score ended up being Big Lake-20 STRIDE-13.

Hats off to the knowledge bowl team

To say the STRIDE Knowledge Bowl Team has had a fantastic season is a tremendous understatement. Going into their final meet at Becker on Monday, the STRIDE KB'ers have placed in the top 5 in all of their seven meets. With four 1st place finishes, two 2nd place finishes and one 5th place finish.

I want to thank all of the teachers and staff and especially the parents and families who have helped make this season a success. A special thank you to Tim & Sherri Moran, Danielle Glen, Jamie Goebel, Cameo DeDominces, Jason Ulbrich and Monica Schraut for helping with practices, reading questions and scoring.

Regardless of the outcome at the final meet at Becker, the STRIDE KB'ers have had a fantastic season and have been great ambassadors in spreading the word about how great a school STRIDE is.
